Five Steps for Perfect Lipstick

Five Steps for Perfect Lipstick | Between the Pearls

If you have ever struggled with your lipstick fading or feathering throughout the day then these five steps for perfect lipstick should help you achieve lip color that will last all day, no matter what color you use.

1. Start by prepping your lips. Use a sugar scrub to remove any dead skin and keep your lipstick from sticking to dry patches. Follow up with a moisturizing lip balm and blot off any excess.

2. Line your lips starting with the edges then lightly fill in the rest. To add shape and definition use a liner that is a little darker then your lipstick and focus it more on the edges, leaving the middle bare. To stay more true to the color of your lipstick use a nude or clear lip liner.

3. Next apply your favorite shade of lipstick. Pucker your lips and use a tissue on the inside edges to keep the lipstick from getting on your teeth.

4. Use a small amount of concealer around the outside edges of your lips to keep the color from bleeding and help define your lips.

5. For fuller looking lips apply a highlight to the cupids bow and add a clear gloss to the middle of the lips.

These are all such great tips. I use the Mary Kay, Satin Lips scrub on my lips twice a week, it makes them SO smooth!

Lip scrubs are my favorite way to get soft lips. I have never tried the Mary Kay one but I will have to look into that.

Those are the only ones I’ve used actually. I just picked up the mint julep one the other day.

Great tips! I rep a brand called Younique and they recently came out with a lip stain that lasts all day. I am so in love with it because it does not transfer to my glass or anywhere.
