Classic Pieces

textured black blazer

There are always those classic pieces that all the fashion articles say you should have in your closet. You see the same things repeated in every article from building a wardrobe to being a closet minimalist. I never sat down and tried to buy everything they say you should but I still managed to acquire most of those pieces natrually.

This look is an accidental showcasing of a lot of those wardrobe staples. The newest item to my closet is the black blazer and it happens to be my first. Any time I had tried on a blazer before I felt like I was going to an interview or a meeting. I wanted it to look like the off duty looks you see in candids and street style sites. So I went with something a little longer that also had some texture to it and it I finally felt like it was the perfect addition.

I paired it with my other closet staples like this striped top, dark skinny jeans, and my monogram necklace. That last one might not be as important of a piece to everyone but in the South monograms are definitely a staple. I never owned a monogramed necklace before because I didn’t want it to be something big and plain. When I came across this one on Swell Caroline I knew I found the right one for me because it was delicate and had gorgeous detailing.

All of these pieces fit my personal style, and I guess that’s the beauty of classic pieces. We all somehow manage to have the same pieces fill our closets but they are all different based on each individual’s style.
