My husband and I just got back from a romantic weekend in New Orleans to celebrate our anniversaries. Yesterday was our 8-year dating anniversary and we are 2 weeks away from our 1-year wedding anniversary. This was an extremely quick trip so we packed in a lot in a very short amount of time. New Orleans is a 5-hour drive from Birmingham so we ended up getting there in the early afternoon and headed straight for the French Quarter because our Airbnb wasn’t ready yet. I love walking around this area even though it was full of tourists because of the beautiful buildings and street performers. We took in the sights (check out more photos and videos on my Instagram) and then headed to our Airbnb to check in and get ready for the evening.

For our anniversay dinner I booked us reservations at Brennan’s, a very popular fine dining restraunt in the French Quarter. I reccommend making reservations ahead of time because they book up quickly. I’ve always wanted to eat here and it did not dissapoint. To celebrate the occasion our table was marked with a green sash (for anniversay and pink means birthday) and we recieved a champagne toast.
These details were such a sweet touch but the best part of the evening was the incredible food. We had qysters for an appetizer and for dinner I had the duck and Matt had the venision. Both were incredible but I’m not going to lie, dessert was my favorite part. Brennan’s is famous for originating Bananas Foster. They make it right by your table and our waiter told us the story of how it all started. It was fun experience and it tasted incredible!
To help us celebrate our sweet parents bought us tickets to Hamilton in New Orleans at the historic Saenger Theatre! Matt and I have been obsessed with Hamilton and were so excited to be able to see it in the city we got married. We both have always loved musicals and Hamilton became an obsession. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t listened to it yet it, the soundtrack is free on Spotify and Google Play. It was an amazing show to be able to experience at this beautiful theatre. The lights on the ceiling twinkled like stars and there were incredible details everywhere. The show itself was beautifully sung and I feel so lucky to have finally seen it.
